Personal Work -What have I been up to?

Alongside university and the D&AD Brief, I have been completing some freelance work to build up my portfolio, to network and to get more practice within my skills. I’ve been completing two different sets of freelance — one, helping a third year BCU Fashion and Business student design pages for her dissertation presentation and two, designing a logo for a photographer’s studio.

While being so happy and honoured to be offered work, working freelance alongside university commitments is so difficult. In my mind, the work would be relatively quick tasks that wouldn’t take up too much time — however, I’ve learnt that is not the case. In since turned down other people offering me freelance, as I found it was interfering too much with my university work, especially the group work which was the last thing I wanted to neglect so close to the deadline. In the future, I will still say yes to freelance work where I can, but I’ll be mindful of what I can realistically commit myself to.
