Professional Futures Presentation — How did it go?

As our very first task upon our arrival back to university after Easter, we all had to complete our professional futures presentation to our tutors. I presented at 10am on the Monday morning to Martin and my peers from the collaborative module.

In terms of my 10 minute presentation content, I focussed on editorial design, branding and design for good as the areas I wanted to centre my direction towards. Below is one of the slides I included.

I covered many areas within my slides including where I am today as a designer, where I would like to be in the near future as a post-graduate designer and where I can see myself professionally in the far future. I also looked at my online profile, goal setting, freelance, summer placements and networking.

As well as clarifying my areas of preferred practice, I found that the presentation allowed me to solidify my personal branding too. This was the first time I have applied my personal brand to my slides, CV, LinkedIn and Instagram all in a uniform style. For the first time, I have felt I am genuinely creating a professional style and personal brand that is setting me up for third year and beyond.

The feedback I recieved from Martin was all so positive and reassuring. I received no criticisms from Martin regarding the presentation itself but he helpfully said that all I need to do is continue to tie and refine my practice and personal work.

Overall, I was really happy with how my presentation went in terms of execution, feedback and content.
